The Swift Current Airport will be moving ahead with a new hanger construction project this year.

"Some really exciting things are happening," admitted John Parker from the Southwest Community Futures Development Corporation. "A hanger is going to be going out there. We have requested a proposal for scheduled airline from more than one service companies within the industry. We hope to have that within our hands within the next 30 to 45 days. In addition to that in the provincial budget this year there was an inclusion of $500,000 for airport infrastructure. It's a start with it."

Some new signage will also be taking place at the airport

"We have also met with the sign analysis and we are now working with them for the proper signage from to go East, West and Highway number 4 for designation to the Airport. We have been working with the City as well to have proper signage at the Airport but that's down the line."

Parker says this is a very exciting time for them and that they are right on schedule for the project.

"It's exciting we are moving forward. I have always indicated it's a five year project and we are one and a half years into it and we are pretty well on target in gathering the information in order to develop all the necessary things that we need."
