Sundogs prepare for home volleyball tournament this weekend

The Great Plains College SunDogs are hosting their home tournament when they take the the court for the third PAC volleyball tournament of the 2009 schedule.

The SunDogs men's and women's volleyball teams are holding their home tournament at Millar College, with action starting at 4 p.m. on Friday and running through to the gold medal games at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The women's team opens play with a pair of games on Friday, taking on Millar College at 3 p.m. and playing St Peter's (Muenster) at 8 p.m. They will be busier on Saturday, with a quartet of games, facing Kelsey at 8 a.m., Bethany at 10 a.m., Woodland SIAST at 1 p.m., and Eston at 4 p.m.

The men's Sundogs team will be involved in four weekend round robin games, facing Bethany on Friday at 7 p.m., Woodland SIAST on Friday at 9 p.m., plus Saturday games against Millar at 10 a.m. and Kelsey at 1 p.m.

The Millar College women's team have scheduled games against the Sundogs (Fri. 4 p.m.), St. Peter's (Fri. 6 p.m.), Kelsey (Fri., 8 p.m.), Woodland SIAST (Sat. 9 a.m.), Eston (Sat. 11 a.m.), and Bethany (Sat. 2 p.m.).

The Millar men's squad faces Kelsey (Fri. 6 p.m.), Bethany (Fri. 10 p.m.), Sundogs (Sat. 10 a.m.), and Woodland SIAST (Sat. noon).

The two Southwest schools will then renew their rivalry in the annual Battle of the Southwest on Nov. 4 at O.M. Irwin School. The women's teams clash at 6:30 p.m., with the men's teams on the court at 8 p.m.
