With the high school badminton season having finished up track and field will take centre stage in the weeks to come. The road to the provincials championships begins next week with a trio of sectional meets across the Southwest.
Wednesday Leader will host the Cypress Hills sectional featuring Maple Creek, Fox Valley, Burstall, Leader, Abbey, Hazlet, Cabri and Success.
Thursday the Swift Current Comp. will host the Rolling Hills sectional with Irwin, Herbert, Hodgeville, Morse, Ponteix, Vanguard, Gull Lake, Waldeck, and Wymark.
Also on Thursday will be the Whitemud sectional in Frontier with Val Marie, Frontier, Shaunavon, Eastend and Consul all in action.
Students in grades 6-12 will compete for the chance to go onto districts. The district track meet will be held in Swift Current on May 27 beginning at 6 p.m. and May 28 beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association provincial championships will take place June 5-6 at the Harry Jerome Track in Prince Albert.
