Swift Current United Soccer Club

The Swift Current Under-14 Standard Motors Tune-A-Matic United Girls brought home a silver medal from the eight-team Saskatoon United Soccer Club Tournament in their final action before Division II Provincials in Regina this weekend.

They opened the tournament with a 5-2 win over the Saskatoon Aurora Storm. Deserae Unger and Lauren Hayes led the team with two goals each, while Kennedy Granrude added a single.

The United girls followed up with a 0-0 draw against the Saskatoon United Soccer Club Comets.

They concluded the round robin with a 3-0 win over the Humboldt Hurricanes. Unger score twice and Alex Ludlow added a single.

Swift Current and the SUSC Comets rematched in the championship final. The game was tied 2-2 at halftime but Saskatoon scored twice in the second half for a 4-2 win.

The U14 United Girls will be off to the eight-team Provincial tournament this weekend where they will open play Friday against Humboldt. They will also face Lloydminster and Saskatoon's SUSC Spartans on Saturday in need of a top-two finish in the four-team pool to reach Sunday's medal round.
