The Swift Current United Under-12 Girls wrapped up their indoor soccer season with another second-place finish at ACFC Winterfest in Regina.

The United girls opened up the tournament by defeating Regina’s REU Galaxy 2-1 on goals from Olivia Koebel and Montana Adair. Juliana Whalen and Meisie Chamberlain shared the goaltending duties in the victory.

Swift Current went on to face the Regina Hawks and battled to a 1-1 draw as Adair scored her second goal in as many games.

The United girls added a 4-1 win over Regina’s UCT Crushers to clinch a spot in the championship game. Adair scored twice and MJ Anderson and Eden Stevenson both added singles.

Swift Current faced Bonvital Kern in the gold medal game. They were unable to generate scoring chances in a 4-0 loss to the dominating squad out of Winnipeg.

The indoor United team was combined group of U10 and U12 girls, which made their second-place finishes in all three of the tournaments they attended that much more impressive. The team was coached by Jennifer Lepage and Dona Eidness Anderson.
