U12 United place second in Moose Jaw

The Swift Current United Under-12 Girls opened their indoor soccer season by attending Moose Jaw’s first ever youth tournament on Nov. 29-30.

The team started out with a 2-0 win against the host Moose Jaw Storm on goals from MJ Anderson and Payton Fehr.

They dropped their first game in a 6-1 loss to a very dominant Regina AC Futbol team on a lone goal from Meisie Chamberlain.

The U12 United girls went on the play the Storm again in the semi-final and defeated them 5-2 this time. Anderson paced the attack with four goals and Chamberlain added a single in the win to clinch a spot in the final.

They rematched against Regina in the final where they were unable to generate scoring opportunities in the first half but were able to hold off the dominating team from Regina for a 0-0 score after one half. Regina was able to break through in the second half for a 4-0 final.

Swift Current put in a great team effort and was backstopped by solid goaltending from Juliana Whalen. The U12 United Girls are coached by Jennifer Lepage and Dona Eidsness Anderson.
