The Swift Current Comp. Ardens defeated Moose Jaw Vanier in the semi-finals.
The Swift Current Comp. Ardens moved within one win of a fifth straight championship in the Moose Jaw High School Soccer League with a 5-0 win over the Moose Jaw Vanier Spirits Thursday.
The Ardens earned a date with the Moose Jaw Central Cyclones in the championship match after Central upset Weyburn in a shootout in the semi-final.
The Ardens took a while to break down the Vanier defense but once they opened the scoring they connected for four goals in the final 35 minutes of the opening half. Grade nine Ashley Eben opened the scoring with an assist from Santana Gowan and then Gowan scored an unassisted goal to make it 2-0.
Haley Bissonnette and Andrea Erlandson added first-half goal with assists from Payton Schwan and Shae-Lynn Bolton respectively.
The Ardens cruised through the second half and Leia Anderson scored the lone goal to close the scoring.
Cassandra Furey-Cameron and Hannah Dyck shared the shutout in goal.
The Ardens and Cyclones will meet in the championship match Tuesday in Moose Jaw.
