U14 United Girls
The Swift Current United Under-14 Div II Girls took no prisoners on their way to a second gold medal in as many tournament outings.
The United girls outscored their opponents 30-1 in four straight wins to claim gold at the RAZZ Soccer Classic in Regina.
They opened the tournament in dominating fashion with an 8-0 drubbing of Regina’s Unidad Phoenix. Mackenzie Froehlich and Brooke Vallee led the offense with two goals apiece. Danika Krywulak, Brittany Lamontagne, Payton Schwan, and Ashley Eben all added singles, while Hannah Dyck kept the clean sheet in goal.
Saturday, they followed up with a 9-1 early morning victory over Yorkton United. Lamontagne led the attack with a hat trick, followed by singles from Krywulak, Froehlich, Schwan, Vallee, Eben, Dyck, and Christina Chase.
They wrapped up a dominating round robin with an 8-0 win over Regina’s UCT Blue Devils on Saturday evening to cruise into the championship match. Froehlich and Lauryn Hayes each found the back of the net twice in the win. Chase, Krywulak, Lamontagne, and Marissa Hilmoe all added singles.
Sunday’s championship final brought a rematch with Yorkton United and Swift Current kept another clean sheet with a 5-0 win for second gold medal this season. Froehlich scored twice in the championship match, while Krywulak, Chase, and Vallee all added singles. Hannah Dyck earned her third shutout of the tournament in goal.
The U14 United Girls now sit at 10-0 in tournament action this season. Their next action will be in Regina Jan. 11-13.
