A pair of Swift Current soccer products continued to take their game to the next level when they suited up for the Medicine Hat College Rattlers at the Kelowna Invitational Soccer Tournament.

The annual event, which hails itself as the largest adult soccer tournament in Canada, ran over four days with 94 teams from British Columbia, Alberta and the Yukon in attendance.

Swift Current’s Kaity Letwiniuk joined the Rattlers for the second straight year in Kamloops. The recently graduated star of the Swift Current United Soccer Club and the Comp. Ardens will join the Rattlers this fall in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference. She was recently named the Most Valuable Player at Division Two Outdoor Provincials in Regina at her final youth soccer tournament.

The Rattlers women finished 1-3 and made an appearance in the semifinals at KIST.

They opened their tournament with a 2-0 loss to the Kamloops Heat. They fell to 0-2 with a 1-0 loss to Prince George Subway FC to conclude the round robin.

Letwiniuk scored her first two goals in a Rattlers uniform as she found the back of the net twice in a 5-2 win over Stainer U in Sunday’s quarterfinal. The Rattlers tournament came to an end with a 6-0 loss to the Kamloops Heat in the semifinal.

Allan Siwela, who spent time with the Comp. Colts and United club teams, is entering his second season with the Rattlers. He started every game in the midfield as a rookie and scored three goals on his way to being named a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association All-Canadian and was named to the ACAC All-Conference Team.

The Rattlers men were in tough in Kamloops, dropping all three games. Saturday, they opened the tournament with a 2-0 loss to the Kamloops Heat. They finished winless in the round robin with a 6-0 loss to Norvan.

Sunday, they were knocked out of the tournament with a 4-1 loss to Westvan FC.

Letwiniuk and Siwela will be back in action August 22 when the Rattlers visit the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns.
