The Swift Current Ardens will be playing for the 3A Girls bronze medal game at the SHSAA Soccer Championship after splitting their day one games at the championship in Prince Albert.

The Ardens suffered their first shutout of the season when the defending 3A provincial champion Saskatoon St. Joseph squad posted a 3-0 win in the provincial semi-final game.

The loss means the Ardens will face Prince Albert St. Mary in the bronze medal final at noon on Saturday.

Swift Current had an offensive explosion in their championship opening game, powering to a 6-5 win over Regina Riffle in quarter-final play.

Cassidy Andres scored four times and Grade 12 striker Kaity Letwiniuk had a pair of goals in sparking the Ardens to an appearance in the championship side of the eight-team draw.

The SCCHS Colts were not as fortunate in their opening day contests, starting the tournament with a 3-0 loss to Saskatoon Holy Cross.

The Colts provincial run ended with a 3-2 loss to Prince Albert Carlton in their consolation side opening game despite goals from Levon Marjeran-Findlay and Dominic Vallee.
