Ardens win Regionals

The Swift Current Comp. Ardens soccer team added a 3A South Regional gold medal to their haul this season with a 4-0 victory over the host Weyburn Eagles on Saturday.

The top seeded Ardens scored twice in each half without allowing a single shot on net in the win over the Eagles, who were playing their second game of the day after defeating Estevan in the semi-final.

Brittany Schafer led the Ardens with a goal and two assists, while Kaity Letwiniuk scored a pair of goals. Cassidy Andres also scored, while Shae-Lynn Bolton and Tara Kirkpatrick added assists.

Britney Cleaveley and Cassandra Furey-Cameron split the shutout in goal.

The Ardens, who improved to 17-1 on the season, will be off to Prince Albert next weekend for the eight-team SHSAA 3A provincial finals.
