The Swift Current Figure Skating Club wrapped another season with their annual carnival on Sunday entitled 'Dream a Little Dream.'

Head coach Trisha Feil explained how much work went into the annual showcase of the SCFSC's members of all ages.

"I started working back in October planning and getting ideas. Around Christmas time you start with a little bit more planning with music and scheduling practices and scheduling the kids for their routines. The kids started practicing about two and a half weeks before the carnival."

Feil felt that the event was a success.

"I think it went really really well. I think it is rewarding when you just see the kids' faces, the excitement that they have and then when they come off and how much they want to go back. The sad part is that it goes by so quickly and pretty much the whole year is working towards that. I guess for myself it is the same way it is my favorite time of the year, it is a lot of work but making up the programs is my favorite part."

One of the highlights each year is the performances from the graduating skaters.
This year the club bid farewell to Kirstie Mann and Kelsy Leavins.

"For myself Kirstie Mann was my graduating skater and I have coached her since she started skating in the Senior program when I started coaching here," said Feil. "She has been through her first test to her last test and many competitions and we have spent a lot of hours together. I know Dorothy feels the same way about Kelsy. It is pretty emotional to watch them and you remember them being very little and now they are going forward onto new things."

The SCFSC also handed out their annual awards during the Carnival.

Jadyn Tanner was named Can Skater of the year for her dedicated season in which she passed many badges this season and also participated in the Regional Funfest in February.

Four-year-old Can Skater Noah Willis was acknowledged with the Spirit of Skating award for his eagerness to learn and his always smiling face in the Can Skate B session.

McKinley Remple was also acknowledged for her Spirit of Skating for her quiet businesslike approach and her love of skating.

Jordan Gold took home the Test Award.

Shaila Humphry and Kate Durrant shared the Competition Award.

Maddison Gates took home the Program Assistant Award.

Kelsy Leavins received the Dedication Award.

Kaylee Tompson was named the Senior Skater of the Year.
