The Swift Current Figure Skating Club wrapped up their season with their annual carnival on Sunday afternoon.

Entitled "All That Glitters," the Carnival showcased club members from the young Pre-Canskaters all the way up to the clubs graduating skaters.

Nicole Dixon was recognized as the Canskater of the Year for her dedication, desire, and steady improvement over the season. She passed all Canskate badges this season.

Rhett Popp was awarded the Spirit of Skating Award for his constant smile, his overall energy and most importantly his love of skating which is evident every time he laces up his skates.

Chandra Purves was the recipient of another Spirit of Skating award for her smile, her great attitude, and her love of skating.

Club coach Trisha Feil-Johnson explained the amount of work that went into this year's carnival.

"I started at Christmas time doing all the off-ice stuff for the carnival, all the preparation, doing the groups, taping the music. We started decorating last night at about 8 p.m. until midnight. The kids were here practicing this morning. The Senior kids have been practicing about two weeks and the Canskaters have been practicing about three weeks."

Feil-Johnson admitted that it was a gratifying experience seeing her students perform.

"This is the most exciting time of their year especially for our grads, they have been looking forward to this all year. This is the end of their skating for a lot of them. It is good because we are seeing a lot of new kids come out."

Feil-Johnson was honored to recognize Alyssa Reimer as the Club's Skater of the Year.

"Alyssa Reimer was chosen as the Skater of the Year due to her accomplishments this year. She helped out in our summer and fall programs coaching the little guys. She passed two gold dances this year and is working on taking her Gold Skills on Thursday. She has really improved on her overall skating this year and is such a great kid to everyone out there. She has an amazing attitude and works so hard. She is a very special girl."
