Shaunavon’s Tanner Allemand was the big winner at the Frontier Days Rodeo as he topped 26 other bull riders to tie for top spot in the three-day rodeo’s signature event.
Allemand was the last competitor in action on Friday afternoon and scored an 83 aboard Final Payment to tie Meadow Lake’s Cody Coverchuk for $731 apiece.
Swift Current’s Blaine Switzer finished in second spot in Tie Down Roping among 39 competitors. Switzer needed just 9.9 seconds to complete his task and take home $938. Lenore’s Shane Brown finished first in 9.2 seconds.
Maple Creek’s Ross Kreutzer also finished second in Saddle Bronc with a score of 77 for $640. Regina’s Andrew Turvey led all 17 riders with a 78 for $773.
Four Southwest women finished in the money among 85 entries in Ladies Barrel Racing, led by Stewart Valley’s Dannielle Dinius in 18.13 seconds for a third-place payout of $1,517. Fellow Stewart Valley rider Janet-Lynn Moen was hot on her heals in fourth spot in 18.20 seconds for $1,249. Eastend’s Shelley Humpries tied for sixth in 18.23 seconds for $580, while Aneroid’s Bailee Switzer was eighth in 18.26 seconds for $178.
Val Marie’s Wyatt Hayes and Mankota’s Shawn Williamson were fourth in Team Roping among 61 teams. Hayes and Williamson needed only 6.6 seconds to share $1,880. Cardston’s Jeff and Justin Heggie led all team ropers with a 5.9-second time.
Next up on the CCA calendar are Saskatchewan stops in Moosomin and Wood Mountain next weekend.
