The Frontier Days Rodeo field will be loaded with Southwest entries, many of whom are in the midst of outstanding seasons on the Canadian Cowboy’s Association rodeo circuit this season.

The 2011 rodeo will feature four performances, beginning Thursday at 7 p.m. Friday will feature slack at 10 a.m. and an afternoon performance beginning at 2 p.m. The final performance goes Saturday beginning at 2 p.m.

The Southwest contingent will be led by Stewart Valley’s Dannielle Dinius, who has built a sizeable lead atop the Ladies Barrel Racing standings. Dinius led last week’s Budlight Standings by $1,975 over Brooks’ Steffanie Mather with a total of $5,854 in winnings. She is slated to compete during Friday’s slack performance, which begins at 10 a.m.

Swift Current’s Dusty Caragata is third in the Steer Wrestling standings with $2,165 and will perform in front of the hometown crowd on Thursday evening.

Swift Current’s Blaine Switzer will lead the Southwest Tie Down Roping competitors. Switzer is sixth in the season standings with $1,465 and is slated to compete on Friday afternoon. Mankota’s Shawn Williamson, who is eighth with $1,403, will enter the Jerry Myers Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Maple Creek’s Tyler Gilchrist will be the top Saddle Bronc competitor at Frontier Days. He sits eighth in the CCA standings with $1,549 and is scheduled to ride during Saturday afternoon’s performance on Lakeshore.

Piapot’s Brady Bertram is ninth among Bareback riders with $953. He will ride Bell City during Saturday afternoon’s performance at Frontier Days.

Mankota’s April Williamson is ninth in the Ladies Barrel Racing standings with $1,574 in earnings, followed by Stewart Valley’s Janet-Lynn Moen with $1,489 in total earnings this season. Williamson will enter the arena on Friday during the slack performance, while Moen will compete on Friday afternoon.

Kyle’s Cody Lewis will be looking to increase his Novice Saddle Bronc lead. He is currently in top spot with $434 and will be one of five competitors at Frontier Days. He will compete on Friday afternoon along with Val Marie’s Klinton Kornfeld.

One of the teams to watch in Team Roping will be Waldeck’s Tuftin McLeod and Maple Creek’s Jared Parsonage. The high school duo will compete on Thursday evening as they look to emulate their high school rodeo success this season.

The always-popular Bull Riding event will feature five Southwest cowboys among the 29-man field. Parsonage, Shaunavon’s Tanner Allemand, Rush Lake’s Levi Speir, Swift Current’s Louis Trotter, and Maple Creek’s Wyatt Maines are all slated to try their hand.
