The Swift Current Cody Snyder Invitational Pro Bull Riding event saved the best for last as Strathmore, Alberta’s Scott Schiffner scored an 86 aboard ‘Pop Evil’ to win the title on Saturday evening.

Schiffner, the 2006 PBR Canada National Champion, had scored an 86 on his first ride on ‘Brush Hog’ to edge PBR Canada points leader Tyler Thomson by a half point and take home over $5,500.

The seasoned veteran got his revenge on ‘Pop Evil’ as he thrilled the crowd to conclude a spectacular event at the Credit Union iplex.

“He is a neat little bull. He does that every time, he just leaps, and sometimes he’ll get ya spinning. Like I said, he bucked me off once before in about five seconds so I kind of knew what was against me… It is amazing how a 1,500-pound animal can get that high in the air,” said Schiffner.

“Well it doesn’t get any better than that does it? It was phenomenal. Scott Schiffner, that is the veterans, you need those guys to step up and get the job done when you need to and he did it once again for me,” said Snyder.
