Gerlach topped the 10 and under division with a score of 99 and was also awarded the Youngest Participant Award. Other awards went to Thomas Wason for Best Trick, Riley Sando for Best Wipe Out, and Cody Tyberg who took home a skateboard donated by Ray and Ila Wheeler for winning the Wheeler and Fitzpatrick Sportsmanship Award. Lindell Cherpin, Summer Program Coordinator for the City Of Swift Current's Recreation and Parks Department, said the event was a big success. "Friday's Sk8 competition turned out to be a great success. We had a lot of great talent from our skaters and great support from the crowd. It is nice to be able to hold such a wonderful event at a park like the Kiwanis Sk8 park. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and thanks to M & M Meats and all of our great sponsors there was a great BBQ and wonderful prizes. We are already looking forward to the 10th annual Chris Wheeler Sk8 competition". Cherpin also thanked sponsors CD Plus, Empire, In Look and C4 Boardwear as well as judges Cody Tyberg, Dustin Tyberg, Keegan Wheeler, Danny Wright and MC Mitch Gauvin. 17-year-old Jared Cadrin invaded the 9th annual Chris Wheeler SK8 Competition on Friday with this perfectly executed Boneless Air at the Kiwanis SK8 Park in Swift Current.
