The Millar College of the Bible Edge men’s basketball team claimed another Prairie Athletic Conference title at Provincials this past weekend.
They did it with some last minute heroics from tournament MVP Andrew Gottselig, who hit a three-pointer with only 14 seconds left to lift the Edge to a 56-63 win over the Kelsey Amaruks in Saturday’s final in Swift Current.
“It was very close. We tied the game with under a minute left and then Andrew Gottselig hit a three-pointer with 14 seconds left to win the final,” explained Millar coach Kevin Peters.
Gottselig, a Regina product, led the Edge with 18 points. Tim Doerksen had five blocks and Eric Doerksen pulled down 15 rebounds in the gold medal game.
Millar had not played Kelsey yet this season as the Amaruks returned to the PAC basketball scene for the first time in many seasons.
The second ranked Edge opened the tournament with a 111-59 win over the fourth ranked Great Plains College SunDogs Friday.
Millar defeated Palliser SIAST 71-67 in their second game to advance to the final.
