SCCHS Colts & Ardens

The Swift Current Comp. Ardens senior girls basketball team opened their season with three straight wins on their way to a gold medal finish at the ‘Shoot for a Cure’ tournament held by Estevan Comprehensive School on Friday and Saturday.

The Ardens averaged over 64 points per game on offense and held their opponents below 60 points in all three games during their title run.

They opened the tournament with a 62-24 win over Melville. Grade 12 forward Shay Smith led the Ardens with 14 points in the win.

The Ardens played their closest game in the A semifinal. They prevailed with a 59-57 win over Indian Head led by 14 points from grade 12 guard Jocelyn Martin.

The Ardens had no trouble in the championship game as they posted their second 38-point win of the weekend with a 72-34 victory over Melfort. Grade nine guard Jade Addai led the Ardens with 20 points in the win.

The 2012-13 Ardens are comprised of six grade 12’s, three grade 11’s, two grade 10’s and one grade nine. They are coached by Andrew Herrick and Megan Jackson.

The Ardens will be off this weekend before hosting their annual home tournament on Dec. 14-15.
