Mankota’s Shawn Williamson is one step closer to a fourth CCA Finals title in Tie Down Roping. The veteran cowboy placed third on day three in 9.4 seconds to earn 20 Championship Points to put him 55 ahead of his nearest competition after three days of the five-day event at Canadian Western Agribition in Regina. Williamson had finished first on the opening two days in 9.6 and 7.8 seconds respectively.
Maple Creek’s Mardi Yarshenko took over top spot in Junior Girls Barrel Racing Thursday. She topped the competition in 14.38 seconds on day three to earn 40 Championship Points and now holds a 20-point lead over Wood Mountain’s Nicole Pana.
Stewart Valley’s Dannielle Knudsen was unable to keep pace with the leader in Ladies Barrel Racing. The four-time defending champion finished out of the money on day three in 14.34 seconds and now sits tied for third with 50 Championship Points.
Maple Creek’s Brady Resch now leads Junior Steer Riding with 60 Championship Points. He was third on Thursday with a score 67.75 to add 20 points to his total. Maple Creek’s Nolan Jans is 10 points back after placing fourth on day three.
Maple Creek’s Ross Kruetzer was shut out of the money in Saddle Bronc action on Thursday but still sits in a four-way tie for second with 40 Championship Points, 40 back of Jake Brown for top spot.
Piapot's Brady Bertram won money in Bareback for a third straight day but fell off the pace and sits third with 40 Championship Points. He was fourth on day three with a 74.75-point ride for $250.
The CCA Finals will continue Friday in Regina and will wrap up Saturday.
