Laurels advance to Hoopla championship game

The Herbert Laurels have advanced to the SHSAA 1A Boys Basketball provincial final after an incredible second-half comeback.

The second seeded Laurels met the 11th seeded Craik Cougars in the provincial semifinals at Hoopla in Regina on Friday afternoon. The Laurels trailed 40-20 at halftime but out-scored Craik 46-22 in the second half for a 66-62 victory.

Grade 12 point guard Phil Braun and grade nine forward Kurt Robertson led the Laurels with 20 points each. Tyler Sanden paced the Cougars with 28 points. 

The Laurels will meet either Regina Harvest City or Sturgis in the gold medal game on Saturday at 5 p.m. at Campbell Collegiate in Regina.
