Shadows win another SWAC title

The Shaunavon Shadows repeated as SWAC boys basketball champions with a 98-65 win over the Swift Current Comp. Junior Colts on Tuesday.

Matthew Benesh paced the Shadows with 30 points and eight assists to lead Shaunavon to their 14th SWAC title in the past 16 years.

Jesse Voll added 22 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocks. Marty Funk had a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds. Jay Selvig added 14 points, seven assists, and seven steals. Dillon Carlson chipped in nine points, six assists, and six steals.

The Shadows will be in Regina this weekend for a three-day, 16-team tournament as they prepare for the start of SHSAA provincial playoffs the following weekend.

The Shadows are currently ranked second among all 3A teams in the province behind only Clavet.

The Shadows will begin Conference play on March 9-10 in Biggar.
