The veteran experience of the players from Millar College lifted both the men's and women's teams to season opening basketball victories over the host Great Plains College SunDogs.

The SunDogs women's team returned to the Alberta Colleges Athletic League after a three year absence, and they had trouble finding their offensive touch in a 58-11 loss to the Millar Edge. Swift Current's leading scorer was Liz Zazalak with six points.

In men's play, Millar College broke open a seven point game in the fourth quarter to win their opener 62-46 over the SunDogs. Mike Tuchscherer led Great Plains College with 16 points.
