The Swift Current Comp. Colts’ season came to an end on Saturday as they suffered a 78-59 loss to the Moose Jaw Central Cyclones in the Conference semi-finals in Moose Jaw, one win short of a trip to Regionals this weekend.

The Colts got off to a horrendous start as they shot just 33 percent from the floor and 27 percent from the free throw line to trail 45-23 at the half. Coach Adam Jackson noted that his team gave up 29 points in the first quarter alone as the Cyclones got the ball inside at will and out-rebounded his team.

The Colts made a bit of a push in the third quarter, outscoring the Cyclones 22-16, but only scored 14 pts in the final quarter.

“They are a talented team, but we dug ourselves too big a hole.  I know that we are capable of a much better performance, but the Cyclones were clearly better today,” noted Jackson.
Grade 11 post Justin Kehler led the Colts with 14 points and six rebounds. Grade 10 guard Jaylen Mayall had four assists in the loss.
The Colts had entered Conference play with wins in five of their previous six games and conclude the season with a 15-10 record.

The Colts will sorely miss their nine graduating players as Dallin Martin, Sidney Heuer, Connor Chau, Riley Knox, Kale Scherger, Jordan Hildebrand, Ty Vandersteen, Taylor Trout, and Chad Schultz all played their final games with the team.
