Road to Hoopla begins this weekend

The road to Hoopla begins this weekend for seven 1A-3A Southwest high school basketball teams. Conference tournaments will take place across the province with a pair set to take place in the Southwest this weekend.

Herbert will host 1A girls play with Frontier, Central Butte and Rockglen joining the host Laurels. Three of the four teams in attendance will move on to Regionals next weekend.

The Herbert Laurels will face the Frontier Raiders in the semi-finals on Saturday at 11:45 a.m.

The Maple Creek Rebelles and Shaunavon Silhouettes will both head to Moose Jaw for 3A Girls Conference action. The top four finishers at the seven-team event will advance to Regionals the following weekend. The Rebelles and Silhouettes will face one another in the quarter-finals on Friday at 6:15 p.m.

Maple Creek will host a 3A Boys Conference tournament with Shaunavon, Regina’s Scott Collegiate, Caronport, Moose Jaw Riverview, and Assiniboia joining the host Rebels. The top four teams will advance to Regionals.

The Maple Creek Rebels will face Assiniboia in the quarter-finals on Friday at 6 p.m.

The Shaunavon Shadows have received a bye into the semi-finals where they will face either Maple Creek or Assiniboia on Saturday at 9 a.m.

The Herbert boys will head to Craik for 1A Conference play where four teams will compete for two spots at Regionals. They will take on Mossbank at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Hoopla will take place in Moose Jaw on March 24-26.
