Drag racing this weekend

The Swift Current Drag Racing Association will finally hit the pavement for the first time in 2010 this weekend with two days of racing. The SCDRA's first scheduled day of racing was cancelled due to rain but they are going to hit the ground running with racing on Saturday and Sunday at the Swift Current Regional Airport.

The 2010 season schedule now consists of five days of racing in total, including a pair of double race day weekends.

The second weekend will take place August 28 and 29. The SCDRA will also hold a race day at the Kyle Airport September 18 to conclude another season of drag racing in the Southwest. Admission for a race car and driver is $30 per day. Admission for spectators is $5 for adults, while for children 12 enter for free.

On Saturday the gates will open at 8 a.m., tech begins at 10 a.m., and racing will begin at noon.

On Sunday the gates and tech both begin at 8 a.m. with racing slated to begin at 10 a.m.
