Seven Southwest basketball teams were included in the recent SHSAA February Basketball Rankings led by the Swift Current Comp. Ardens who were one of two previously ranked Southwest teams to rise, moving from third to second-place in the 4A girls category. The Ardens passed Prince Albert St. Mary, who are now ranked third, but still trail Prince Albert Carlton.

The Herbert Laurels also rose in 1A girls from ninth to seventh spot. The Frontier Raiders made their first appearance in the rankings in 1A girls, ranking fifth behind Fillmore, Middle Lake, Southey, and Central Butte.

The Shaunavon Shadows were the only Southwest team to fall in the rankings, dropping out of second spot in 3A boys behind Moose Jaw RVCI/Cornerstone and Lumsden into third-place.

The Shaunavon Silhouettes held steady in 3A girls, maintaining their hold on eighth spot.

The Herbert Laurels also debuted in the rankings in sixth-place in the 1A boys category.

The final team to debut in the rankings was the Swift Current Comp. Colts in the 10th and final spot in 4A boys.

The 1A-4A top 10 lists are complied by an independent group of SHSAA volunteers and include only teams that submitted their results to the SHSAA. The rankings will assist in the seeding process for conference, regional, and provincial tournaments that are set to get underway next weekend leading up to Hoopla in Saskatoon March 18-20.
