Despite being rained out Saturday the Speedy Creek Racing Association still managed to open another season of racing on Sunday with a full slate of races in the Mini, Hobby, and Street Stock divisions in front of 295 spectators at the Speedy Creek Raceway.

Despite being rained out Saturday the Speedy Creek Racing Association still managed to open another season of racing on Sunday with a full slate of races in the Mini, Hobby, and Street Stock divisions in front of 295 spectators at the Speedy Creek Raceway.

In the Mini Stock division seven cars were able to capture points over three races led by last year's runner up #96 Steve Lee who topped the second heat as well as the feature to sit atop the standings with 48 points.

#8 Brody Crowe also grabbed a heat win and sits third with 42 points, four back of #97 Tyson Empy in second.

In Hobby Stock action four different drivers took the checkered flag led by #7 Cam Weston who captured heat 1A as well as the feature race to grab a share of first place in the standings with 45 points along with #33 Greg Schultz who topped heat 2B.

Also winning heats in the Hobby Stock division on Sunday were #24 Murray Koethler and #0 Tanner Leverson.

In the Street Stock division #20 Colin Johnson took the checkered flag in the feature race, while #67 Ron Dyck topped a pair of heat races followed by single heat wins from #46 Jason Duclos and #76 Phil Zanger.

Duclos now holds a four-point lead atop the standings with 46 points followed by Johnson and Zanger with 42 points apiece.

The next SCRA race day is scheduled for May 23rd at 7 p.m. featuring Hobbies, Streets, and the first appearance of the always popular IMCA Modifieds.
