Broncos bounce back with shootout win

The Swift Current Broncos improved to 2-1 in the Western Hockey League preseason with a 3-2 shootout win over the Red Deer Rebels in St. Albert Sunday afternoon.

Overage forward Coda Gordon had a goal and an assist and scored in the shootout for the Broncos. Cavin Leth scored the winner in the shootout as veteran Landon Bow stopped four of five shooters.

Glenn Gawdin scored the other goal for the Broncos on the powerplay. Red Deer held two leads on goals from Scott Feser and Jeff de Witt but the Broncos tied the game both times as each team finished one-for-six on the powerplay.

Bow earned the win with 31 saves in regulation in his first action of the preseason. Taz Burman allowed two goals on 10 shots over 29:59 for Red Deer, while Rylan Toth stopped all 17 shots he faced.

The Broncos are now off until Friday when they host the Moose Jaw Warriors at 7 p.m. at the Credit Union ipex.
