Swift Current Broncos Associate Coach Darren Evjen will not be behind the bench this upcoming season after stepping down from his coaching duties with the Western Hockey League team.

Evjen has been a fixture on the Broncos bench over the past four season since joining the Broncos as an assistant coach for the 2010-11 season.

“He worked hard to help us build the identity of our team to what it is today,” Swift Current Broncos Head Coach and General Manager Mark Lamb stated in a press release.

The Broncos will be looking to fill Evjen's position following this month's NHL entry draft.

Prior to joining The Bronco organization in 2010, Evjen served as an assistant coach with the Moose Jaw Warriors in 2007.

Evjen was head coach with the Saskatoon Contacts of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League from 1998 to 2006, helping guide the Contacts to four league championships plus a gold and a bronze medal at the Telus Cup. Evjen also handled multiple roles with the SJHL's Notre Dame Hounds from 2007 to 2010.

Evjen will remain with the Swift Current Broncos in a smaller capacity, including a prominent role at The Swift Current Broncos annual hockey school this August.
