Swift Current Broncos

Recent Swift Current Broncos graduate Graham Black made his professional debut last week with the Albany Devils in the American Hockey League.

Black, 20, skated in victories over the Portland Pirates and Springfield Falcons and finished with three shots on goal and a +1 rating.

He joined former teammate Reece Scarlett in Albany, the AHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils. Scarlett finished with 20 points and a +11 rating in his first professional season.

The Devils finished with a 40-23-5-8 record in the regular season to earn the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.

They will now face the fourth seeded St. John's IceCaps (46-23-2-5) in the opening round of the AHL playoffs. The series will see Black and Scarlett clash with former teammate Adam Lowry. Lowry posted 17 goals, 16 assists, and 49 penalty minutes in 64 games during his first professional season. Former Bronco Jason Jaffray led the IceCaps in scoring with 59 points in 76 games this season.

The best-of-five series begins Friday and Saturday in Albany. Games three, four, and five will be played in St. John's.
