PeeWee Ice Cats win provincial title

The Swift Current Ice Cats won three consecutive series to win the Saskatchewan Hockey Association Female PeeWee A championship.

They defeated the Regina Renegades 5-1 in the two-game, total-goals series to clinch the provincial title. The Ice Cats won game one 2-0 in Regina and then sealed the title with a 3-1 win in Swift Current Saturday.

Autumn Nimegeers scored the first two goals in the win. Both goals were assisted by the combination of Mackenzie Veason and Kalea Sauder. Trista Labarowski added a third-period goal with an assist from Sauder. Allison Wall picked up the win in goal.

The PeeWee Ice Cats were coached by Steve Veason, Brad Carlson, Whitney Marsden, Jason Nimegeers, and managed by Kim Sauder.

They eliminated Dodsland in the opening round of the provincial playoffs with 5-2 and 4-1 victories. The Ice Cats met Saskatoon in the semi-final when they won 5-2 and lost 4-2 to earn the one-goal victory in the series.
