2014 Southwest Cyclones

The Southwest Cyclones won the Girls Bantam A Provincial Championship last night with a 3-1 win over the Springside Lions.

The Cyclones trailed the two-game, total-goals series 3-2 heading into the second leg and fell behind further 5:23 into regulation when Jordan Holinaty scored for the host Lions.

Taylor Kirwan tied the contest minutes later for a 1-1 tie after 20 minutes. Chelsea Wilson scored for the Cyclones in the second period for a 2-1 lead in the game and a 4-4 tie in the series.

Kirwan netted the series winner in the third period to lift the Cyclones to their fourth consecutive provincial championship. Wilson, Reece Girodat, Courtney Bredahl, Laura Fiddler, and Jenessa Fournier all picked up assists and Keara Zoerb earned the win in goal.

The Provincial championship capped an incredible season for the Cyclones. They won the South Sask Female Bantam A Hockey League championship on Saturday in Gull Lake and many of the team members also gold with Team South West at the 2014 Saskatchewan Winter Games in Prince Albert.
