The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats will need to win three straight games to keep their season alive after suffering a 3-2 loss in double overtime to the visiting Regina Rebels Thursday.
Chelsea Perepeluk scored 5:42 into the second overtime period to lift the Rebels to a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League semi-final series.
The Wildcats had led 2-0 after one period on goals 3:45 apart from Chloe Smith and Danya Winzer. Keely Chalk, Merissa Zerr, and Jessica Pele all picked up assists for Swift Current.
Regina fought back in the second period with unassisted goals 1:01 apart from Andie Wilyman and Delaney Frey to tie the contest 2-2. The two teams played the next 50 minutes without a goal before Frey scored on Regina's 33rd shot of the game.
Brooklyn Weisgerber made 30 saves in her first appearance of the playoffs for the Wildcats. Tatum Shand got the win with 30 saves on 32 shots for Regina, who improved to 5-0 in the playoffs after finishing first in the regular season.
Game three will be played Sunday in Regina.
