The Wildcats find themselves trailing in their playoff series after a 6-0 loss to Regina
The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats find themselves in an early hole after losing 6-0 to the host Regina Rebels in game one of the second round of the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League playoffs.
The top seeded Rebels flexed their offensive muscle with goals from five different skaters to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series after outshooting the Wildcats 43-13. Delaney Frey scored twice and captain Emma Waldenberger was in on the first five goals, capped by a shorthanded goal in the second period to make it 5-0. Erica Rieder, Chelsea Perepeluk, and Marlee Clarkson also scored in the win.
Regina finished two-for-six on the powerplay and held the Wildcats without a goal on five man-advantages.
Summer Roberts earned the shutout with 13 saves, while Jasey Book took the loss with 37 saves on 43 shots.
The Wildcats will need to regroup quickly with game two set for Thursday at 7:15 p.m. at Fairview West Arena.
