With nothing but pride on the line, the Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires settled for a season ending 7-7 tie with the visiting Notre Dame Hounds.

Swift Current led 3-1 after the first period and enjoyed a 5-1 lead early in the middle period before Notre Dame stormed back with five unanswered goals before the end of the second period to take a stunning 6-5 advantage.

The Legionnaires counted a pair of goals to start the final period and regain a 7-6 lead, but Notre Dame collected a power play goal with 7:35 left in regulation to force the 7-7 tie.

Dawson Tangen paced the Legionnaires attack with a hat trick, scoring goals 3:17 apart in the opening period and completing his three-goal performance with Swift Current's seventh goal. Swift Current also had goals from Chaseton Sare, Morgan Greve, Kolby Johnson and Tanner Brewster. Evan Armstrong chipped in with a trio of assists.

Notre Dame's Egor Popov had a hand in six of Notre Dame's seven goals, leading all scorers with two goals and four assists for six points. Popov's dominating final game performance allowed him to reach the 40 goal plateau and win the league scoring race with 72 points (40 goals and 32 assists), four points better than Spencer Bast from the Battlefords Stars.

Legionnaires starting goaltender Kyle Zinger turned aside 17 of 23 shots in 36:05 of play and was pulled after giving up Notre Dame's go-ahead-goal in the middle period.

Shane Blomquist yielded one goal on 18 shots during his 28:55 replacement stint in Swift Current's goal.

The Legionnaires ended up 11th in the 12 team Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League with an 8-32-3-1 record, one point up on the last place Beardy's Blackhawks. Swift Current, who dressed 11 rookies this campaign, managed a league low 115 goals over their 44 game schedule, and they gave up a league high 215 goals.
