The 2014 Saskatchewan Winter Games officially got underway Sunday with ice hockey and the opening ceremonies

The 2014 Saskatchewan Winter Games got underway in Prince Albert Sunday with the opening ceremonies.

The only sport to see action on Sunday was men's ice hockey with Team South West losing 5-0 to Prairie Central.

Southwest members of the hockey team include Tanner Kendall (Cadillac), Hunter Lamb (Swift Current), Lane Pritchard (Shaunavon), Rhett Stevenson (Shaunavon), Rylan Switzer (Ponteix), Damon Legault (Val Marie), and Jackson Tonnies (Swift Current).

The Team South West hockey team will look for their first win Monday when they take on Team Lakeland at 7:30 p.m. at the Art Hauser Centre in Prince Albert.

The rest of the first-half sports - alpine skiing, bowling, cross country skiing, figure skating, judo, and sychronized swimming - will get underway Monday and will conclude Wednesday.

Second-half sports will include badminton, biathlon, curling, gymnastics, women's ice hockey, snowboarding, speed skating, table tennis, and wrestling. The second half sports will begin Thursday and conclude Saturday.
