The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats concluded the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League regular season with a shutout win Wednesday.
The Wildcats defeated the visiting Notre Dame Hounds 3-0 to finish the season with a 10-10-4-4 record.
Merissa Zerr, Brooklyn Haubrich, and Jessica Pele all scored in the win. Karlie Bell had two assists, while Kayla Kirwan, Jaeda Hoppe, Keely Chalk, and Chloe Smith all added singles.
Brooklyn Weisgerber earned the shutout, her third of the season, as she finished with a 7-7-0 record with a 1.88 goals against average and a .929 save percentage. Kylee Styles made 44 saves in the Notre Dame goal in a losing cause.
The Wildcats are the only team that has completed their regular season schedule and can still finish anywhere from fourth, their current position, to sixth. Their playoff opponent can still be either the Prince Albert Bears, Weyburn Wings, Saskatoon Stars, or the Notre Dame Hounds, although a first-round match-up against Saskatoon seems most likely.
