MacKenzie Johnston scored in overtime for the Saskatoon Blades to defeat his hometown team Saturday.

The Swift Current native sent the Broncos to their second straight overtime loss after they had lost in a shootout to Prince Albert Friday. Johnston scored his first goal with the Blades 3:16 into the five-minute overtime period for a 3-2 win.

Saskatoon had jumped out to a 2-0 lead on first-period goals from Cory Millette and Nikita Scherbak. The Broncos tied the game with second period goals from Colby Cave and Andrew Johnson.

Landon Bow took the overtime loss with 35 saves, including 17 saves in the third period. He also stopped Scherbak on a second-period penalty shot. Troy Trembley earned the win with 40 saves.

The Broncos remain first in the East Division with a 25-18-2-6 record, just one point ahead of the Brandon Wheat Kings, who hold three games in hand. Saskatoon improved to 14-33-1-3.

The Broncos will be idle until Friday when they host the Medicine Hat Tigers, followed by a visit from the Prince George Cougars on Saturday.
