The stage is now set for a first-place showdown between two unbeaten teams in the Sask Valley Hockey League.
The Kyle Elks won their only weekend game to improve to 13-0 as they get set to host the 11-0 Rosetown Redwings Friday.
Friday, the Elks earned a 5-3 win over the visiting Delisle Bruins. Danny Williams scored twice and Blake Evans and Justin Williams both notched a goal and two assists. Defenseman Cory Hodgins added a goal and an assist, while Jeff Marshall, Byron Sorensen, and Greg Wills added assists. Jamie Langen earned the win with 26 saves on 29 shots.
Delisle dressed only 11 skaters but got two goals from Taylor Hill and one from Kevin Mryglod to stay in the game.
The Elks will play their biggest game of the season to date on Friday when they host the Rosetown Redwings on Friday at 8 p.m. The Elks have outscored their opponents 116-26 in 13 games and Rosetown has scored 113 goals and allowed 27 in 11 games.
The contest will also feature the league’s two highest scoring players. Jared Jagow leads Rosetown with 53 points in 11 games, while Danny Williams leads Kyle with 46 points in 12 games to sit second in league scoring.
Rosetown’s Heath Pearce leads the league with a .942 save percentage and Kyle’s Jamie Langen is second with a .930 mark.
The Elks will also visit the Central Butte Flyers on Saturday at 8 p.m.
