The Southwest will be represented in girls hockey at the 2014 Saskatchewan Winter Games in Prince Albert next month.

The District Three roster was recently released and it was chalk full of players from the Southwest.

The 20-player roster included 13 players that either reside or play in the Southwest. The South West Bantam Cyclones led the way with goaltender Keara Zoerb (Gull Lake), defenseman Taylor Kirwan (Gull Lake), and forwards Darby-Jane Fletcher (Swift Current), Jenessa Fournier (Ponteix), Morgan Reznechenko (Maple Creek), and Reece Girodat (Gull Lake) all named to the team.

The Swift Current Wildcats were also well represented with three players named to the squad. Defenseman Mikayla Swallow (Moose Jaw), and forwards Chloe Smith (Swift Current) and Danya Winzer (Maple Creek) will likely be major contributors with their Midget AAA experience.

The Swift Current Midget AA Titans had two players earn spots on the team with defenseman Payton Schwan (Swift Current) and forward Tiffani Empey (Swift Current).

Defenseman Tenille Lind (Shaunavon) will represent the Shaunavon Badgers, while forward Kaitlyn Haubrich (Swift Current) was also named.

The Saskatchewan Winter Games will be held February 16-22 in Prince Albert. Girls hockey will take place in the second half and the South West team will open the tournament on February 20 against Regina.
