Import netminder helps Broncos snap losing streak with 46-save performance in Medicine Hat

The Swift Current Broncos got 46 saves from Eetu Laurikainen to snap a two-game losing streak in a 3-1 win over the host Medicine Hat Tigers Saturday.

The Broncos were outshot 47-21 but beat Daniel Wapple for three goals to upend one of the Eastern Conference's top teams.

Coda Gordon, Colby Cave, and Jake DeBrusk all scored as the Broncos improved to 22-15-1-5.

Cole Sanford scored with 2:27 left in regulation to spoil Laurikainen's shutout bid. The overage goaltender improved to 13-11-0-4. Wapple dropped to 12-8-1-0 in the loss.

Gordon opened the scoring with a second-period powerplay goal as the Broncos finished one-for-three with the man-advantage. The Broncos successfully killed off all three Tigers' man-advantages.

The Broncos will have five days off until they host the Saskatoon Blades on Friday at the Credit Union iplex.
