The Swift Current Broncos lost their second straight game Friday, falling 3-1 to the host Kootenay Ice in Cranbrook.

The game was tied 1-1 heading into the third period until Tim Bozon scored twice for the home team. He netted the game winner with 5:12 left on the clock and then added an empty net goal in the dying moments, his 15th goal of the season.

Graham Black opened the scoring with a powerplay marker, his 19th goal of the season, only 5:14 into regulation. Austin Vetterl tied it up for Kootenay only 3:34 later with a powerplay goal for the home team. The Broncos were outshot 16-4 but escaped the period tied 1-1 before a scoreless second period.

Eetu Laurikainen made 32 saves on 34 shots to drop to 12-11-0-4. Wyatt Hoflin needed just 21 saves for the win to improve to 9-7-0-0 for Kootenay.

Swift Current fell to 21-15-1-5 as their East Division lead is now only four points over two teams with two games in hand over the Broncos. Kootenay snapped a two-game losing streak as they improved to 20-19-2-1.

The Broncos will continue their road trip in Medicine Hat (23-12-3-0) on Saturday against the Tigers. The Broncos lost the only previous meeting 3-1 on September 28.

Bronco Bits: Overage forward Nathan Burns made his debut for the Broncos after being acquired from the Saskatoon Blades two days earlier. The Edmonton native wore number 18 and finished minus-one. Defenseman Dillon Heatherington returned from injury after missing the last two games.
