Gawdin to play for gold at World Under-17 Hockey Challenge

Swift Current Broncos rookie forward Glenn Gawdin will play for gold with Team Pacific at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Nova Scotia.

Gawdin had two assists in a 7-3 win over Russia in the semi-final on Friday evening to advance to the gold medal game where they will face the United States.

Team Pacific lost their opening game to Quebec but have now rattled off four straight wins to guarantee themselves a medal. Gawdin, 16, has three goals and three assists in five games.

Team Pacific will have a difficult task against a 5-0 American team that has outscored their opponents 43-6, including a 9-1 win over Quebec in the semi-final. The gold medal game will be played at 4 p.m. EST at the Centre 200 in Sydney, N.S. and can be seen on TSN.
