Wildcats finish Mac's Tournament with shutout win

Swift Current Wildcats

The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats concluded a strong performance at the Mac’s AAA Midget World Invitational Tournament with a 4-0 win over the Calgary Flyers Monday.

The Wildcats led 1-0 after one period on a Kate Scidmore goal. Brenna Thomson and Jessica Pele scored in the second period for a 3-0 lead after two periods. Danya Winzer added a third-period goal to close the scoring.

Brooklyn Weisgerber picked up the shutout in goal with 19 saves in her second straight start for the Wildcats.

Brooklyn Haubrich, Winzer, Merissa Zerr, and Pele all picked up assists in the win.

The Wildcats finished the round robin with a 3-1-0 record in second spot in their five-team pool but missed the playoffs. 

The Wildcats will return to Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League action on January 18 when they take on the Battleford Stars on Hockey Day in Saskatchewan at St. Walburg Arena.
