Swift Current Broncos - Light It Up

A depleted Swift Current Broncos team overcame the absence of seven regulars in a 4-1 win over the host Moose Jaw Warriors Saturday. Landon Bow continued his strong sophomore season with 35 saves in the win.

The Broncos dressed only 10 forwards and five defenseman as injuries and illness compounded the absences of Julius Honka and Glenn Gawdin, who are skating for Team Finland and Team Pacific respectively.

The Broncos got goals from Jake DeBrusk, Brett Lernout, Zac Mackay, and Colby Cave in the win. Cave added an assist for a two-point game and Andrew Johnson added a pair of assists against his former team. Bryson Gore scored the only goal for Moose Jaw to tie the game early in first period.

Bow improved to 9-3-1-1 in the win with 15 third-period saves. Justin Paulic allowed four goals on 26 shots in the loss.

The Broncos improved to 21-13-1-5 and now have five points in their past three games as they continue to lead the East Division. The Warriors' three-game losing streak came to an end as they fell to 11-22-3-3.

The Broncos will have the next three days off before visiting the Saskatoon Blades on Wednesday.

Bronco Bits: The Broncos improved to 14-2-0-3 against East Division opponents this season. The Broncos are now 8-10-0-2 on the road. Swift Current has earned eight of a possible 10 points in five games versus Moose Jaw with a 3-0-0-2 record as the season series passed the midway point.
