Cyclones come up short against Thunder

The Cypress Cyclones dropped both weekend games to the visiting Ochapowace Thunder to conclude their first-half schedule.

Friday, the host Cyclones got 51 saves from call-up Logan Tisdale, but still lost 8-3 to the Thunder. Chris Bartlett had a goal and an assist, and Ty Reisdorf and Drew Soderberg added single markers. Felix Ewen-Temoshawsky and Tanner Bokor added assists.

Mathew Cameron led the visitors with three goals and one assist.

Saturday, the Cyclones were right in the rematch until the final minutes when the Thunder pulled away with a 7-5 win. The Cyclones scored three goals over 3:31 to tie the contest 5-5 midway through the third period.

Tristen Keshane netted the game winner for Ochapowace with 1:28 left on the clock and then added an empty net goals 1:03 later.

Tisdale took the loss despite making 36 saves in goal. Blake Sanderson paced the Cyclones with two goals and an assist. Keenan Wilson scored and set up two goals. Bokor and Nick Gillies also scored, while Bartlett, Keegan Ham, and Tristan Hermanson all added assists.

The Cyclones finished 2013 with a 2-25-0 record in the Prairie Junior Hockey League.

The Cyclones will be back at home January 4-5 when they host the Extreme Hockey Regina Capitals (9-14-1) at 8 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Maple Creek Arena.
