Two late penalties send Legionnaires to eighth straight loss
Swift Current Legionnaires
The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires lost to one of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League's hottest teams in devastating fashion heading into the holiday break.
The host Moose Jaw Generals scored with four seconds left on a two-man advantage to take two points off the Legionnaires Thursday.
The two teams were tied 4-4 when Swift Current was whistled for a boarding penalty with 4:22 left on the clock and then assessed an unsportsmanlike conduct minor only four seconds later.
Braydon Delorme notched the game winner with 2:26 remaining in regulation as the Generals remain unbeaten in 13 games.
Bryce Hall led the Legionnaires with a goal and an assist, while defenseman Evan Armstrong had a pair of assists.
Reid Fritzke and Chaseton Sare also scored in defeat. Shane Blomquist suffered the loss with 34 saves on 38 shots.
Rykr Cole, Jared Legien, and Riley Cannon also scored for Moose Jaw. Colby Entz earned the win with 22 saves on 25 shots. Moose Jaw remains fifth in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League with a 16-6-4 record.
Swift Current dropped to 6-19-2-1 with their eighth straight loss. The Legionnaires were the last team to defeat the Generals in a 6-3 win in Swift Current on November 14.
The Legionnaires will resume their league schedule on January 9 when they host the Battlefords Stars.
