Canada outscoring opponents 72-2 heading into gold medal game against Russia

Swift Current's Jenna Smith will play for gold for Canada in womens' ice hockey at the 26th Winter Universiade in Trentino, Italy.

Canada defeated Japan 15-0 in the semi-final Wednesday. Smith had two assists as Canada outshot Japan 50-8 in the win.

Canada will face Russia on Friday for gold at the 26th Winter Universiade. Canada has now outscored its opponents 72-2 in six games. They defeated Russia 5-0 in the preliminary round one week ago.

Smith, a former star with the Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats, is tied for ninth in tournament scoring with three goals and eight assists in six games with a +16 rating.
