The Southwest Cyclones remained unbeaten in the South Sask Female Bantam A Hockey League with two home wins over the weekend.
The Cyclones skated past the visiting Springside Parkland Lions on Saturday with a 4-3 win. The Cyclones trailed 1-0 after one period and 2-1 after two periods before scoring three goals in the third period.
Darby-Jane Fletcher, Laura Fiddler, Taylor Kirwan, and Reece Girodat all scored for the Cyclones. Courtney Bredahl had two assists, while Courtney Funk, Chelsea Wilson, and Jenessa Fournier all added singles. Keara Zoerb picked up the win with 18 saves on 21 shots as the Cyclones outshot the Lions 36-21.
The two teams rematched on Sunday and the Cyclones scored the first five goals in a 5-1 win. Zoerb earned the win with 24 saves on 25 shots to improve to 7-0 with a 1.57 goals against average.
Girodat paced the Cyclones with four goals, while Kirwan added a goal and an assist. Fletcher and Fournier both added two assists.
The Cyclones finished the weekend in second spot in the nine-team league with a flawless 7-0-0 record behind Estevan (9-0-1).
The Cyclones will remain at home on December 16 when they host the last place Wood River Ice Cats at 7 p.m.
They will get their showdown with the Estevan Chargers on December 22 when they visit Gull Lake at 12 p.m.
